Patricia Shoemaker

My work is rooted in a deep fascination with place--how light, atmosphere and human presence combine to form the quiet poetry of a landscape, an interior or a still life. Each painting is an attempt to hold onto those fleeting moments when light transforms the ordinary into something resonant and meaningful.

Patricia Shoemaker is a landscape, figurative and still life painter, working in oil, pastel and watercolor. She studied fine arts at Wells College, attended the Art Students League and received her BFA from the University of Georgia. She was accepted to the Yale Brissago (Switzerland) Summer Program and received her MFA from the Yale School of Art, where she was awarded the Alexei Brodovitch Prize.
