Jan Vanderburg

Having moved to the Long Island Sound in 2022 from New Mexico, I'm still taken by the stunning contrast between this coastal environment and the high desert landscape where I've worked and lived for so many years.

Colors, shapes, textures and the light of the landscape are my inspirations while the printmaking process of Reduction Linocut is my medium of choice. I start with a drawing or photograph and as the print comes to life, the image changes as I constantly adjust the colors depending on what happened when the last layer of ink was applied. It's a continuous exploratory process and each print is a new challenge.
