Eva Polizzi
Fiber & Ceramic Artist
Dichotomy marks my life. I grew up in Budapest, Hungary, but I made the United States my home twenty-five years ago. I wanted to be an artist, but I studied linguistics. I tried my hands at every fiber technique, but I earned my MFA with a focus on ceramics. My ever evolving work reflects this intimate liminality in code. Disguised communication fascinates me the most: the knotted strings of an ancient Andean civilization, the runic alphabet, the dots and dashes of the Morse Code, music notes. So it seems that I am forever suspended between two worlds: this and the other side of the Atlantic, the written and woven language, and the realms of ethereal fibers and fired earth.
