Elizabeth Steele is an artist based on the Connecticut shoreline since 1990. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, she studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art and earned a BA in Studio Art from Southern Connecticut State University. Her career includes textile design, architectural color consulting with Cesar Pelli and Associates, and teaching at Guilford Art Center and Creative Arts Workshop. She has also worked in botanical and natural science illustration through programs at the Yale Peabody Museum. Steele’s work is influenced by artists such as Richard Diebenkorn and Hans Hofmann. Her experimental process combines diverse media, saturated color, and collage to create layered compositions that balance abstraction with moments of realism.
