"One of my joys in working with wood is that each piece is unique. It has never existed before and will never be duplicated. I often spend time simply looking at the wood to see what it is and what it could become. Some pieces can only be turned in accordance with the conditions of the wood. Other pieces lend themselves to my design. Then again, there can be a dance between the two.
